ALIBI HALLOWEEN MADNESS

(10/24/2015) The tournament on October 24th was a fabulous event. The weather was great for late October.  The Alibi added $100 to the pot and cooked up some burgers for the contestants. With discounted drink prices, everyone seemed to have a good time. We were even able to finish with time to spare before the BSU kickoff. Great way to wind down the 2015 season!

McCLEARY'S SEPTEMBER TOURNAMENT

(9/26/2015) The McCleary’s tournament on September 26th was a bit smaller in numbers because of hunting season.  The weather was great and the bar offered up reasonable prices on their drinks.  There was also a live band at 6:00 and few of us actually kicked up our heels a little.  Since there was a smaller number of players, we did use the high-low method and wound up having two tournaments.

 WEDNESDAY FRIENDLIES AT THE GOOSE

(Fall 2015) 20 players showed up to throw on the first week this year. The weather was perfect, and we played a bling draw doubles with High/Low draw.The Dutch Goose had some great specials and everyone looked like they were having a great time.We saw some new faces mixed in with the old, and hope for many more! On the second event of the series we had 22 Players. It rained a bit, but was not extremely cold. We had live entertainment that night with a band that was playing at the Goose. Week three brought out 16 players on a marvelous night. The season contenued well into October with about 16 players showing up faithfully until th weather finally won out.

BLACK SANDS TOURNAMENT

(8/22/2015)  94 players played in the tournament and many more just showed up for the fun. A special thank you for the hard workers who converted the beach to a horseshoe mecca. After the awards ceremony, the shoes started flying and did not stop til it got dark. Even then, we had to pull a couple vehicles down on the beach so we could get the last couple games in. Love it when these things happen, makes every year unique and rememberable! The BBQ was fabulous as usual, thanks Willie and crew. The bar was packed in the end so we had a place to spend our winnings and build our friendships. Never thought I would say it but missed the Karaoke.

22 people braved the hot sun on Sunday even after the long party the night before.  We were a bit slow in getting started and nobody was playing very quick. Chris was playing on a bad knee, Melody had a hurt hand from the night before and most of them were suffering from way too much fun over the previous days – what a bunch of troopers!!!

After the Sunday tournament, we all took a little break and then put out all the leftovers and gathered about.  Red and Linda brought the duck farts again and we played butt darts and the word game.  Monday morning rolled around way to quick, but there was an absolutely beautiful sunrise to end the weekend.  A lot of wonderful people stuck around Monday morning and helped pack up all the gear.  A big thank you to all those helpers – we could not have made it without your help.  We then headed to Grand View for our annual bloody marys and some good eats at the local restaurant, then the caravan home to finish out another fabulous year.

 LDG JULY TOURNAMENT

(7/25/2015)  40 players showed up and Scott and Jill Hymas put on a great party – it was the 20th year they owned the LDG so an extra special event.  They had a friend cater/cook pig and it was absolutely scrumptious, plus lots of great side dishes and treats from the players.  The weather was a little warmer than expected, but that did not keep anybody from playing good and partying hardy.  We were done before dark and Scott offered up his normal generous drinks for all.

(6/13/2015)  42 players showed up to throw this year. The weather was fabulous. With lots of shade and a little breeze, the hot day just turned out perfect for a game of horseshoes. Everybody seemed to have a great time, with help from the superior service by the Beerhouse staff to all the players. They also added $100 to the payouts. The great support to the league is highly appreciated by them, and all the other great establishments that help make the league a success.

 DUTCH GOOSE KICKOFF SHOOT

(4/4/2015)  48 players showed up to throw the annual kickoff shoot, and as many showed up to get the team packets for the upcoming league play. The weather threatened a couple times but backed off for us so we managed to stay dry. Quite a few light jackets came out though. The Goose had some nice drink and food specials for us, and it looked like for the most part everyone was plenty happy! It seemed like the tournament went to smooth, as it was over pretty early. Thanks everyone for making it easy on Jade this year. As you can see from the results, she appreciated it. Dave and Carlos did make them go to a what if game but we all know it is hard to beat an undefiated team twice in the end. As always, this was a great way to greet the unpcoming season.

LDG ST. PATTY'S DAY TOURNAMENT

(3/14/2015)  44 players showed up for this years event and a Irish feast prepared by none other than the owner, Scott, from the LDG. Our local weatherman was not 100% accurate but not to many complaints of the persistant showers. The pits were rebuilt since last year and it sure is nice improvement, along with some interior remodeling. Willie and Randy went the hard way but took home the clover leaf championship by beating the previously undefeated David and Chris twice in a couple great games! A big thank you to Melody Maynard for helping run the tournament, as well as Dave Hamman. Scott Hymas was feeling no pain by the time he gave his speech, handed out the money, and then as always bought the whole bar a round in appreciation.  We thank Scott and Jill again for their continued commitment to the horseshoe players.

JD BATSON MEMORIAL NEW YEARS TOURNAMENT

(1/1/2015)  30 players braved the cold  – Scott and Jill provided some wonderful dogs and chili and others brought good food to eat as usual.   I know it was really cold and Jade was sick, so she left early when they got down to about the next to last round on the losers side.  Zach Dillon finished running the tournament.  Thank You Zach!
