DUTCH GOOSE END OF SEASON TOURNAMENT

(10/16/2010) 30 people came out to play in the last scheduled tournament of the season. The weather turned out to be a gorgeous day to close out the season. The tournament finished just in time to catch the game inside on the big screen, with the Ohio State game on the screen next to it.

(9/25/2010) 88 people played in the tournament this year, and about twice that many showed up for the party. They weather turned out great, and some of us even found a TV to see the Broncos beat Oregon State. Bert and crew did an awesome job on the vittles again! Pictures seem to be hard to come by (what happens at Black Sands stays at Black Sands) but here are the results of the tournament anyway.

(9/11/2010) 14 "shoers" and some friends showed up for this event at the Plank. Melissa did a great job with the tournament, and we all had a great time. The weather was nice, and the only casualty was a picnic table bench. There were alot of door prizes drawn throughout the tournament with Justin Cromie winning the grand prize of a nice golf bag.

(8/28/2010) 24 people showed up for the inaugural Sullys event in Star. I must say the folks over at Sullys took very good care of us, and they do have a very nice establishment. The competition was very good, and from my limited experience I have never seen so many games go down to the wire. It was well worth the drive, and hopefully this will continue with a "second annual". Folks, this is one you want to put on your schedule.

(7/24/2010) 58 people played in the annual LDG summer event. Scott showed off his BBQ'n skills again this year, as he and the bar feed us plenty of chicken and fish to pass the time between games. It was a hot day and we all loved the cooling misters, but next year maybe the bar can put in a "bigger pool". The finals turned out to be a couple of great games ending when Alex decided that he had enough shoes for the day, so he just "six packed it out" from behind for the win. A wonderful conclusion to a marvelous day.

(6/19/2010) 36 people showed up to throw in this event, and with the $100 added money from the ownership a respectable payout was made to the winners. The weather was just marvelous, and the BBQ grill cooking away all day made for a very pleasant and aromatic environment. The finals turned out to be very suspenseful with Dalen and Dale pushing it all the way, only to loose in the championship game by 3 points to Debbie and Willie. As usual, this sure turned out to be a lot of fun for all the could make it. We even had some regulars show up late just for the camaraderie.

(5/22/2010) We had 20 brave people play on that horrible rainy, snowy,and very cold day. What troopers they were, and three were gals. Luckily they had two pop-ups, but that didn't protect anybody when they were actually playing. They also had a fire pit with a lid on it, and were warming the wet and sandy towels to keep peoples hands warm. I think it was colder than the tournament we had on New Year's Day. The manager of the Plank (Melissa) was there and bought a round of beers for all, plus she had a bunch of items she gave out as raffle prizes for those people that played.

(4/17/2010) With over 60 Horseshoe throwers in attendance, the Spring Kickoff Tournament was a huge success. Cold Beer, Hot Food, and Nice Weather all contributed to a good time had by all. The event itself was won by Dave Maynard and Lyle Gabhart, after the second place finishers of Dave Hamman and Brad Crum managed to push it to the "What If" game. Third went to Willie Baldrey and Debbie Thompson, with Dale Fleishman and Tim Richardson finishing fourth. What a great start to the 2010 Season.

(1/1/2010) 32 throwers showed up to ring in 2010 at the Annual New Years Tournament at the Little Dutch Garden. The pictures speak for themselves, the things we do just to have "fun".
